Ketamine Assisted Couples’ Therapy Therapist Training
Harness the power of psychedelics and take relational healing to the next level.
Ketamine and other psychedelic-assisted therapies are emerging as breakthrough treatments for relational healing, and therapists need specialized training to meet this growing demand.

Background & Rationale for Couples’ KAP: Understand the rationale and scientific basis for integrating ketamine with evidence-based couples therapy.
Assessment & Case Formulation: Conduct conjoint and individual assessments, map relational pattern, and identify ketamine-relevant therapy targets.
Feedback & Preparation: Provide collaborative feedback on couple’s relational pattern and co-create (mind)set and setting to prepare couple for dosing.
Dyadic Dosing: Differentiate between, select, and implement dosing model most appropriate for relational goals.
Couples’ Integration: Guide partners in processing ketamine experiences together and extend integration into ongoing relational treatment.

Overview of the Training
This 2-day, 16-hour live training provides clinicians with a comprehensive framework for delivering the Enamory Model of Ketamine-Assisted Couple Therapy (KAP). Across 5 modules (Background, Assessment, Feedback & Preparation, Dosing, and Integration), participants will be introduced to the theoretical foundations of couples’ KAP and the evidence base supporting the integration of ketamine with couple therapy.
The training outlines how ketamine’s unique mechanisms can be applied to relational contexts. Special emphasis is placed on learning a model of individual & conjoint assessment with goal of identifying recurring interactional patterns that are subsequently used to inform case formulation and guide decisions for KAP treatment. We explore multiple dosing models and demonstrate how to tailor dosing choices based on relational goals, relational patterns, and safety considerations. Subsequent exploration of dyadic integration strategies inform therapists on how to help partners process ketamine experiences together, soften into vulnerable emotions, and shift entrenched relational patterns.
Throughout this interactive training, participants will participate in experiential activities and watch live case demonstrations to help them acquire practice skills necessary to be an effective couple KAP provider. After completion of this training, participants will be equipped with knowledge, skills, and strategies grounded in peer-reviewed evidence, enabling them to effectively bring couple KAP into their practice regardless of theoretical orientation.

Meet Your Facilitator
Dr. Chandra Khalifian and Dr. Kayla Knopp are two of the world's leading researchers and treatment developers in psychedelic-assisted couple therapy. As licensed clinical psychologists as well as grant-funded academic researchers, Drs. Khalifian and Knopp founded Enamory Institute to meet the need for specialized training in psychedelic-assisted couple therapy. Enamory Institute is the world's first therapist training institute dedicated to psychedelic-assisted couple therapy.

Chandra E. Khalifian, Ph.D., is a Research Psychologist at the University of California, San Diego and the co-founder of Enamory– a clinic, training institute, and research center focused on psychedelic-assisted couple therapy. She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and completed her predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship (Advanced Fellowship for Women’s Health) at the VA San Diego / University of California San Diego consortium. She is currently completing a VA Career Development Award studying the Treatment for Relationships & Saftey (TR&ST)-- a couple-based suicide intervention that she developed during her postdoctoral fellowship. She is a co-investigator on several psychedelic-assisted couple therapy for PTSD trials. Her research is focused on developing novel couple interventions for relationship distress, PTSD, and suicide. She is particularly interested in enhancing evidence-based interventions with psychedelic medicines. Within Enamory, Dr. Khalifian supervises associate therapists, conducts research, and co-developed, with her colleagues, Dr. Kayla Knopp and Dr. Skylar Kelsven, the world’s first ketamine-assisted couple therapy training and certification program.

Kayla C. Knopp, Ph.D., is a Research Psychologist at the University of California, San Diego and a clinical psychologist in private practice in San Diego, CA. She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Denver and completed her predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship (Advanced Fellowship for Women’s Health) at the VA San Diego / University of California San Diego consortium. She is currently completing a VA Career Development Award studying the OurRelationship program for veterans and their partners, and together with her colleague Dr. Chandra Khalifian, she directs the INTREPID Lab (Innovative and Novel Treatments for Relationship and Individual Distress). Her research and clinical interests center around understanding the reciprocal associations between intimate relationship functioning and mental health, supporting diverse relationship types and structures, and using novel and creative methods to improve both access to and impacts of interventions for couples. Her current projects include technology-supported interventions for couples and psychedelic-assisted couple therapies. In private practice, Dr. Knopp co-owns Enamory, a clinic and training institute specializing in ketamine-assisted couple therapy, with her colleague Dr. Chandra Khalifian. In addition to seeing a small caseload of couples and individuals, Dr. Knopp supervises associate therapists, provides training and consultation to therapists, and conducts clinic-based research. With her Enamory colleagues Dr. Khalifian and Dr. Skylar Kelsven, Dr. Knopp is the co-developer of the world’s first ketamine-assisted couple therapy training and certification program.
